Lost Art of Bingeing

DAY 22? return of the inner slug

Ew. Just when I was getting my exercise stride back from last month, bloat is back on the blog table.

I can feel the rise in progesterone as a slow creeping slug whispering to me that chocolate cake and a 2 hour nap is a perfect date.
My 11 yr old daughter is in empathy with my cycle as she is also hearing the call of the inner fast carb binge.
What would Tim Ferriss do?
He would say binge all you can eat for a day and enjoy the purge when it comes.
Master Cleansers might say, take a sea salt flush and go back onto lemonade for a week and enjoy nature’s detox.

Day 39 (?or1?) Lifestyle Redesign

Having spent the last week wondering why I hit a wall/plateau in the body department, it all became apparent yesterday.
Pretty much as soon as I started using my pilates pole, probiotics and phytonutrients, my body went into resistance. (like a 3 yr old tantrum)
I couldn’t figure out what was really going on so I just let the last week roll out in front of me.
I didn’t need persuasion to binge.
I hit a wall of fatigue and apathy that is only familiar to me as PMS.
A 20 minute nap just wouldn’t cut it.
I wanted and craved 2 hr naps that weren’t enough to energize my brain.
My body started to bloat and I could see I was retaining salt and fluid.
“But surely I’ve hit menopause” I kept saying to myself. (I’m 53 for pete’s sake)
Just when I hit maximum self disgust at binging on an overdose of chocolate cake, the flood gates opened to another period.
SO here I am looking at the rhythm of a female body trying to over-ride a female biological brain pattern.
Somewhere in the 4 Hr Body, Tim Ferriss does acknowledge that female bodies have a different pattern and taking measurements during the 2 weeks prior to menstruation are not reliable in and of themselves.
SO I feel like I have to go back to Day 1 Lifestyle 4 hr body Redesign as of today - implementing what I have learned in the prior 39.
Tracking, taking supplements/naps/airsquats in a rhythmic sequence starting from Day 1 (second cycle) today.

So I found this bodyfat analyzer today. According to the first try, I am @29%. Which according to the chart is average for my height, gender and age. Now I have a measuring tool, I will play with dropping that to the teens, just for fun.

Bacteroidetes & Firmicutes

page 111 the 4 hour body.
Ok so what’s next for me is get familiar with some friendly bacteria that healthy lean people tend to have more of in their gut.
Bacteroidetes are the ones we need to promote through fermented foods and probiotics.
So my next assignment is to go to the Vitamin Shoppe and explore something that I am willing to take every morning to put the friendly stuff back in.
Firmicutes are the ones we want to minimize, that obese people have an overload of.

Binge Day Alert

Since coming off the Master Cleanse I have been reluctant to follow up with 1 prescribed binge day per week.
But this weekend I went on a fish protein binge. I thought it would be a healthy option.
All you can eat salmon and mackerel.
Result: constipation.

I wouldnt recommend this type of binge!
It took me 3 days to recover.

Next time I might try something more fibrous :)

Day 23 of Lifestyle Redesign

So I am tracking as Timothy Ferriss highly recommends in 4 Hour Work Week (4HWW)
I haven’t gone so far as to take measurements and post pictures.
This is considered day 23 of my Lifestyle Redesign, because I took Day 1 of the Master Cleanse as the starting point for my new adventure as an individual.
Timothy Ferriss is big on making it easy to accomplish goals by using canned and frozen foods where food prep is time consuming/not convenient.
So I made a canned salmon/black bean hummus by popping it all in the Ninja Pro Blender.
I will flavor it as I go.
Turmeric is still keeping my interest so until I get bored with that, I will stick to it.
I am allowed one binge day but to be honest I don’t feel like doing it.
I walk around the grocery store alarmed at how much junk processed food is placed in our face.
Having learned the Maximised Living Model, I can see how making your body acidic will lead to preventable disease.
Adding all that convenience food, soda, grains, sugar, genetically modified dairy and drugged up protein sources makes humans sickly. You can see how sickly a person already is by the amount of body fat that is suffocating their organs, and their body posture/gait. Acidity leaches out calcium from bones so you have goutish bodies slumping around filling up grocery carts with “10 for 10″ and “Buy one get one free” deals.

60-90 seconds of moderate muscle contractions before & after “pigging out”, may be the MED (minimum effective dose) for redirecting binge induced insulin release.
So that fuel (glucose) IS siphoned over to muscles.
Recommended moderate muscle contractions – air squats, wall tricep extensions, isometrics or something similar. (be creative)
